Complete the rating forms. We'll send Vanderbilt forms for you and for your child's teacher. Having both helps us see how your child does at home and at school.
Evaluation visit. Dr. Akbar reviews the forms, your child's history, sleep, learning, and emotional health, and does a physical exam. ADHD often overlaps with anxiety, learning differences, sleep problems, or vision and hearing issues, so we look at the whole child.
A plan you understand. We explain what we found and talk through options. These may include behavior strategies at home, classroom supports (such as a 504 plan), referrals for testing or therapy, and medication when it's the right fit.
Follow-up. ADHD care isn't one visit. We check in regularly to see what's working, adjust the plan, and update school forms.
Time to listen. We schedule enough time to understand your child, not just fill out a checklist.
School coordination. We help with the forms and letters schools ask for (504/IEP letters, medication forms for school nurses).
Continuity. You see the same doctor, who knows your child's history.
Convenient hours. Thursday evening and Saturday morning appointments make follow-ups easier around school.
